Five years as staff graphic designer for Our Savior's Church in Lafayette, Louisiana, including the logo and brand identity the church still uses today.
I spent five years as the staff graphic designer at Our Savior's Church, a multi-campus church in Lafayette, Louisiana. The brief was never one project—it was a week that came back every week: series artwork, print, signage, social, stage graphics, event photography, all of it due before Sunday.
Underneath the weekly work sat a bigger problem. A church running multiple campuses needs to look like one church, and it needs a mark that still works on a building, a bulletin and a phone screen.
I designed the logo and brand identity the church still uses, and the marketing that ran on top of it for five years.
Designing something an organisation keeps is a different discipline from designing something that ships. It has to survive people who did not brief it, applications you did not anticipate, and years of hands that are not yours. That is also where my creative career started—and the reason everything since has been built to be handed over rather than held onto.
